One song, two languages: Hebrew and English, so every word can be understood and sung along.
In the first part of Psalm 84 we were far away and longing. In the second the road ends: the pilgrims go from strength to strength until the gates, and there they find a sun and a shield — light for the road and shelter for whoever walks it.
The song is made in the festive spirit of an Irish village dance, with the pulse of the pilgrims' steps, and everyone joins the chorus.
The verse that gives the song its name and its chorus:
"For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly"
This verse entered the daily prayers, and here it returns to what it first was: a pilgrims' song.
