About This Psalm

Psalm 21 is the answer to Psalm 20. The king who was prayed for before battle has returned — not with another request, but with pure acknowledgment: God gave everything. The desire of his heart, the words of his lips, a crown of pure gold, and life — length of days forever and ever. Not claimed. Received. From this fullness the psalm builds a theology of trust: the king cannot be shaken not because he is strong, but because he trusts in the kindness of the Most High. The enemies of the anointed are named, their defeat described with searing certainty. And then the final verse — not a prayer, not a report, but a declaration: Be exalted, O Lord, in Your strength. We will sing.

The central verse, chosen as the title of this song, is:

"Be exalted, O Lord, in Your strength; we will sing and praise Your might."

After everything received, after trust established, after every enemy turned away — this is what remains. Not a petition. Not a battle cry. A vow of worship: You be high; we will sing.

This song is part of the larger journey of the project: with God's help, to compose and sing the entire Book of Psalms in a diverse, emotional, Jewish, and uplifting musical language.
