Psalm 52 is a song of protest and faith. David composed it after Doeg the Edomite informed Saul that the priest Ahimelech had helped him, leading to the massacre of the priests of Nob.
David speaks directly to the wicked man, describes his fate without softening, and then turns quietly to himself.
The central verse chosen as the title of the song is:
"But I am like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God; I have trusted in the kindness of God forever and ever."
The olive tree endures drought and grows in rocky ground. While the wicked man is uprooted, David remains planted by the kindness of God.
This song is part of the larger journey of the project: with God's help, to compose and sing the entire Book of Psalms in a diverse, emotional, Jewish, and uplifting musical language.
