Blessed Be the Lord Day by Day

Part 3 of Psalm 68 is a journey from victory to song. It opens with an ascent on high and the gifts God gives, moves to a simple daily blessing — "Blessed be the Lord day by day" — to salvation that delivers even from death, and the subduing of evil. And at the end, the great picture: a procession into the sanctuary, singers in front, musicians behind, tambourines among them, the whole congregation blessing God together.

The central verse of this part, chosen as the song's name, is:

"Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, the God of our salvation. Selah."

This is a blessing for each day. "Blessed be the Lord day by day" — we bless Him not once, but every morning anew. "Who daily bears us" — He carries us, taking our burden upon His shoulder. There is no great request here, only daily gratitude: every morning, again, One to bless, and One who carries us.
