Accessibility Statement
Last updated: October 2026
“The Entire Book of Psalms” (Kol Sefer Tehillim, tehillim.co.il) presents the Psalms set to music, and the site is available in seven languages. We want everyone to be able to use it, including people with disabilities.
This page explains what we have done to make the site accessible, how to use the accessibility menu, what is not yet fully accessible, and how to contact us.
Accessibility status
We are working to adapt the site to Israeli Standard 5568, Part 1 (2023 edition), which is based on WCAG 2.0, at level AA. The work is still going on, so some parts of the site may not be fully accessible yet. If you run into a problem, please let us know.
The accessibility menu
Every page has a round button with the accessibility symbol: on wide screens (computers and tablets) in the top left corner, and on phones in the bottom left corner. It is an ordinary button, and you can also reach it with the keyboard, using the Tab key.
Your choices are saved in this browser and apply to every page of the site. In the menu you can choose:
- Text size — enlarges the text in three steps, up to 150%
- High contrast — white text on a black background, with links in yellow
- Light background — the site in light colors, while pictures and videos keep their colors
- Highlight links — every link underlined and in bold
- Readable font — a plain font with more space between lines
- Stop animations — stops motion and animations, including the background videos
- Highlight focus — a thick yellow frame around the item you reach with the keyboard
- Grayscale — the site without colors
- Reset settings — back to the regular display
What we fixed in the site’s code
Besides the menu, we also fixed the code of the site itself:
- A “Skip to main content” link at the start of every page
- The mobile menu and the song list in the playlist work with the keyboard
- A visible mark on the item you reach with the keyboard (keyboard focus)
- Names for buttons, arrows and search fields, in the language of the page
- The verse-explanations panel is hidden from screen readers and from the keyboard while it is closed
- Pop-up windows have names, and when the payment window opens, the keyboard focus moves into it
- Animations and background videos stop when the device is set to reduce motion, and can also be stopped from the accessibility menu
- Better color contrast for small text in the grid of psalm tiles and in the playlist
- Every page declares its language and its text direction
Songs and videos
The songs are YouTube videos, shown on the site in YouTube’s embedded player. The accessibility of the player itself is in YouTube’s hands.
- The psalm verses are sung, and in most videos they appear as subtitles inside the video. Some of the project’s first videos have no subtitles
- Most psalms that have a song on the site also have an explanation page with the text of the verses, in Hebrew, and some also in English and Portuguese
- Every video can also be opened on YouTube itself, through the link in the player
Known limitations
- YouTube’s video player, whose accessibility is in YouTube’s hands
- External services opened from the site, such as the payment pages of the payment providers and the Google sign-in on the memorial dedication form, are run by others, and we have no control over their accessibility
- Some of the first videos have no subtitles inside the video. If you would like the text of the verses of such a song, write to us and we will send it
- The explanation pages are in Hebrew, and some also in English and Portuguese
- Some pages may still have accessibility gaps, and we keep improving the site
How we checked the site
In October 2026 we carried out an internal check of the site: an automated scan of the main kinds of pages (the home pages in all seven languages, the song and explanation pages, the support pages, the playlist and the memorial page) and keyboard navigation checks. The check was done in the Chrome browser, on a computer and in a phone-size view.
