The second part of Psalm 73 is the turning point of the psalm. Asaph brings the insolent words of the wicked — "How doth God know?" — and his own daily afflictions. He almost breaks, yet says nothing aloud, so as not to betray the faithful. And when reasoning fails, the answer comes from another place: entering the sanctuary of God, he suddenly understands the end of the wicked.
The verse that carries the song's name, the turning point of the whole psalm:
"Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end"
Reason failed — until Asaph came to the sanctuary and grasped their true end. Some questions have no answer in logic alone; the answer is found in closeness to God.
This psalm too is part of the great journey of the project: to compose, with God's help, the entire Book of Psalms in a diverse, emotional, Jewish, uplifting musical language.
